Sompo appoints new Bermuda VP

Katrin Gelhar has been appointed VP, global senior reinsurance underwriter at Sompo, based in Bermuda. 

She was previously VP Underwriting (International Property) at RenaissanceRe, again in Bermuda, from November 2023 to November 2024.

Prior to that she was VP Underwriting (International Property) at Validus Reinsurance from September 2021 to November 2023o

She worked for Hannover Re for 17 years before that, starting with the company via a training programme, before becoming first an assistant technical accountant, then an underwriter and finally a senior underwriter, covering international property cat reinsurance Japan and Europe, terrorism, specialty lines and cyber.
